ABOUT
THE GEORGIAN ASSOCIATION FOR AMERICAN STUDIES
The
Georgian Association for American Studies was established in 2002 on
the basis of the Center of American Studies of Tbilisi State
University (established 2001), Which combined the previous existing
Laboratory of American Studies at the History Department of Tbilisi
State University (originally founded in 1994) and the Center of
American History (established in 1998). Our association brings
together professors, graduate, undergraduate students and other
persons who are interested in American Studies.
The
Georgian Association for American Studies embraces the Centers of
American Studies of Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Gori, Khashuri and Telavi.
The
main goals of the association are to:

Professionally research/study all fields of American life
including US history, political system, law, science, culture,
religion, educational system, etc. Also, to promote American studies
in Georgia and to increase public awareness of life in the United
States;

Develop professional training programs in the field of American
Studies;
·
Bring together professionals and non-professionals involved in
science , education, political science, culture and other fields to
provide sufficient coordination of their activities and professional
trainings for persons interested in the field of American Studies;
help professionals publish papers on the topics related to American
Studies;
·
Assist young professionals interested in American Studies in
fulfilling their academic and professional goals;
·
Support the implementation and development of democratic values
in Georgia by offering history and contemporary life of the United
States as a model;
·
Strengthen relations between Georgia and the United States in the
field of science and culture;
